I'm Kristen - my husband, Guy, and I have four children, ages 9 to 19. We have always homeschooled, and have experienced a lot in the last 15+ years. We started before iPhones, in the age of dial-up! Screen-time back then was public television cartoons. In addition to homeschooling, we have tried public school, Christian school, and dual-enrollment at community college.
We live in New England and enjoy getting out in nature, hiking, biking, swimming, serving at church by teaching and acting, and just spending quality family time.
Throughout it all, our goal has been to teach our children to "love God and love people." I felt homeschooling was just an extension of our parenting. We visited some preschools when my oldest was three. I left thinking, "I can do this at home." And we just kept at it.
Watching our children blossom and grow into Godly young men and women is amazing! We've homeschooled with dyslexia, kids who can't sit still, kids who can't stop talking, Mom's health issues, gluten-free diets, and caring for chronically ill parents. It is definitely not all sunshine and roses, but God shows His strength best in our weakness and works it all out, in spite of our short-comings.
"Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts." Psalm 145:4
